Default Decided to call this the Lionhearts Hunt

I like to name my hunts based on the significant finds I make, this way I can keep track of them in my photo file. Today I was on a scouting expedition to find an easy beach for Chris to hunt on his introduction to surf hunting. I've pounded all the beaches nearby on the west end of the island where we both live so I had to look further afield, this meant a trip to the east end of the island which is a little over an hours drive.
I checked out John Smith's Bay first as it was enroute and under an hour's drive (1st pic) and conditions were pretty good, this is usually a brutal beach to hunt as it is very exposed. I gave it a whirl for an hour and all I managed was a $1 Bermuda coin and a bunch of trash, the sand was very soft - never a good sign. A couple of ladies showed up towards the end of my hunt but only one was wearing a bikini so you know it wasn't the cute one = no pic.
Back into the Jeep and another 25 minutes took me across the causeway and the old Martello Tower (2nd pic) and brought me to the far east end of the island, Tobacco Bay. Not a soul in sight so I got down to it right away, ran a quick grid to see what was on offer. My 2nd target was a little butterfly charm and my 6 th target yielded up my 1st gold of the day, a nice 14k ring with 2 hearts intertwined. I pocketed the gold and did a double check of the hole as is my habit, Bingo Another Hit! This one was a Lion's Head Ring also 14k! (Always, always, always double check the hole) The surf was full of clad and I pocketed another couple of $$'s over the next half an hour but no more tickets of interest. It was time to make the journey back across the island in my wetsuit (literally) and pick up my Princess from the ferry. I made excellent time and was able to make it just in time.

Cheers,

BDA
