Default Scouted Button Beach Today

I decided to check out the beach that my new TH'ing Mate James told me about on the weekend, this is the beach where they burned the uniforms during the Yellow Fever Epidemic in the 1800's. I've hunted this beach before and I don't recall getting many buttons but I returned with the ACE250 as well as the Excal to see if I had been approaching it from the wrong angle. I tried working the grassy area with the ACE250 to see I had missed something by hunting only the water. I only managed 4 deep holes and $1.02 when my trowel broke, I'll have to explain that to the Princess later. I worked the wet sand and into the water 2 feet deep with the ACE250 just to refamiliarize myself with the Yeller Feller, it performed flawlessly. Then I switched to the Excal as I was only finding trash with the ACE but the big gun only produced more trash so it wasn't any help. About an hour and a half into this hunt James showed up to say hello and tell me that I was hunting the wrong side of the point. He wondered if I was having a problem with all the trash by swinging a 10" coil, apparently this place was also a dumping ground as well as a place to burn uniforms. Yeah, I was having trouble but at least I had the right beach now so I got back to work. I managed only two buttons in poor condition which was remarkable in so far as the beach had been worked numerous times before by James' buddies. It was another beautiful day so I can't complain, rain and high winds tomorrow.
Not a great hunt but better than nothing.

Cheers,

BDA

Pris, You'd be sick if you knew what I threw back in porcelain and artistic glass. The next beach to the west is called glass beach because there used to be a bottling plant there dating back to the late 1800's. You can pick up glass by the bucketful there. Pottery, pewter and glass of all shades just lying there on the beach for the taking. The ruins of the glass factory are still there as well as a pauper's graveyard, it's sad to see how young some of the people who were buried there died.

Cheers,

BDA

Default I woke up this morning with an aching back and a headache.

The headache I can blame on the Bob Marley Party last night but the back pain is definitely from dirt fishing yesterday. Now I remember why I got an Excal and became a Surf Pirate, no more time spent on my knees digging through grass and dirt.
My new student has a bad case of the flu and can't come out to play today, so I'll be solo when I work the minus tide this afternoon.

Good Hunting to All,

BDA
