Unhappy BDA Got Nitro'd Today!

It was a late minus tide at my beach and I got in a late Surf Church today. I decided to take the ACE250 out for a spin in the dry and wet sand so i could blow some of the cobwebs off of her. I hit my beach with an hour of sunlight left and worked my way down the dry, hit a good number of clad targets and a galvanized anchor chain which sent the ACE into fits. I cut across the point to the public beach next to mine and worked an area that workmen had cleared away last week more coins but all modern clad unfortunately. The sun was dipping below the horizon by this point so I headed back, thankful that I was wearing my BOGS as the tide had turned and it took some fancy stepping from stone to stone to avoid getting a soaker.
I strolled aimlessly back along my beach towards our little cottage and just let the ACE guide me along, more clad, a brass key and fob from the hotel and just at the end of the hunt a Sparkler! I couldn't make it out in the darkness but I could feel that I had a ring, so I slipped it into my pocket and made for home.
In the light of my back patio I could see the sparkle shining up through the thick coating of grime and coral sand, it was some sort of Eternity Ring! If it turned out to be real it was a huge find if it was a Nitro I knew I would be disappointed. My head was telling me that I had never found a nitro on my beach and that the well heeled guests from the hotel usually wore 18k but something wasn't right in my heart about this ring. The Princess was excited when she saw the sparkle coming from my hand but I had to keep from getting worked up about it until I knew what I had. Into the lemon juice it went to melt away the coral sand and help clean up the grime, then a buffing with the dremel to make it shine again and then the diamond tester - - - SIMULANT! What a Bummer! I could make out that the ring was at least .925 Silver but it was a big let down, from thousand$ to hundred$ with one test.
The Princess still says she likes it and I'm over it now. $2.36 and a silver ring isn't bad for a 1 hour hunt in the dry with the Yeller Feller.

Cheers,

BDA

I'd be happy just to get out for an hour and not even find anything. Gonna be a whopping 5 degrees tonight and a heatwave of 15 tomarrow in the day.
As usual Thanks for your Posts and Finds even tho it kills me to look.

Default I have a basic diamond tester

It only verifies diamonds though, not rubies, sapphires, emeralds, etc. I bought it off of an amateur jeweller for $50 but I'm going to get myself a proper tester that will tell me exactly what type of stones I have, Presidium makes one. I have enough sparkley bits to justify the investment now and may get a jeweller's scale while I'm at it. The Princess is in Canada later this month so I'll see if she can pick one up for me while she's there, this sort of equipment is just not available locally in Bermuda.

Cheers,

BDA
