Thumbs down I went looking for the lost jewellery today.

Two Sundays ago a guy came up to me while I was detecting in Mangrove Bay "Does that thing work on the land too?" he asked me. "Yeah, it does" I replied.
"Don't go away, my Mate's Mom lost some expensive jewellery in the backyard and he'll be right here" he says. The guy never showed up but I met another Surf Pirate so it was all good. Today the guy finally calls me and asks if I'll go to his Mom's house a few blocks from me and look for something that got lost there. Sure no problem and no charge, always willing to help someone out when they're in a bit of a bind.(mistake #1 if it costs nothing it's worth nothing)
I arranged to meet his Mom at 1 pm this afternoon and I showed up to find a very, old lady wandering around in her front yard, probably looking out for me to arrive. I parked the jeep and walked over to the house calling out "Good Afternoon, Mam!" a very typical Bermudian greeting, she started walking away from me so I followed and continued repeating my greeting, getting louder and louder each time. Finally, when I was practically yelling and she was practically inside the house she turned with a look of surprise on her face and said "Hello". Formalities aside, I asked her the usual questions, size of target, type of metal where was it lost, etc.? All she knew was that her grandson had been playing in the yard a few weeks ago and had lost something off of his neck chain. No idea whether it was silver or gold, no idea of the size and the location was possibly in the yard but possibly elsewhere, GREAT! I told her I'd give it a spin around the yard and see what I could come up with based upon the wealth of details she'd provided (no I didn't say that, that would be rude BUT I sure thought it). She only wanted to know if I needed the grass mowed before I started looking, "no it would be fine just the way it was" I said.(she seemed surprised at that)
I gridded out the yard, front and back and got nothing. I tried working a little Mojo but without an idea of what to concentrate on, Zippo. Finally, annoyed at having an hour of my time wasted, but still polite[hey, if they don't care enough to help me out how can I help them out??], I called it a day.
"Please call me when you can give me more detailed information" I said; I'll see if they call back.

Cheers,

BDA

Default Definitely the Right House, Buster.

My mistake was forgetting where I was, Bermuda. Logic and reason don't always work here - you have to live it to believe it so I won't try to explain. Suffice to say that life on a tropical island is a reality unto itself.

Cheers,

BDA

I hit lots of silver targets, RingDancer but I was hunting surface targets only so I didn't dig any of the deeper targets. Coulda, Shoulda, Didn't. It wasn't part of my primary mission.

Cheer Hon,

BDA

I like to help out where I can though, personally, I blame the Boy Scouts for keeping me on the straight and narrow. These people aren't rude, just out of touch with reality. It's really my own fault, in hindsight I should have walked them through it step by step like they were school kids (or cub scouts for that matter), then I would have made the call to hunt before I got there.
I'm really just peeved at myself for not staying ahead of the curve. Too much time sitting out, waiting for immigration to approve my permit, I'm worried I'm losing my Edge.

Soon Come,

BDA
