Hi Ray and welcome to TQ, alot of helpful and friendly people here.

I don't use the ACE but alot on here do, but I personally like the bigger coils for the beach, with a good sand scoop the digging is easy and I just dig it all, you're right, the pull tabs could very well be a ring!

Good luck!

Ray: Bigger is better at the beach, you've got a lot of sand to cover and it's not like you have to cut a clean plug, just fill your holes. If you hit a target with an overshadow by ferrous, just digg'em all and put the bottle cap in the junk pocket and the gold ring in the finds pocket. I've also got some bad news for you mate - You're Not Alone! Steve in PR is this forum's moderator so you've got some competition now but you may also have a hunting buddy depending on where you live relative to each other. Steve's great and you'll meet up with him at some point, it took me 2 years to realize how many hunters there are in Bermuda and I'm still running into new ones.

Cheers,

BDA

Smile ACE at the Beach

I also use an ACE 250 and mostly hunt beaches. I would advise getting the sniper coil, IF.
My favorite beach has a boardwalk that has an electrical conduit that runs the length and the lifeguard stations are on aluminum stands with aluminum ladders that go into the sand, and there is a main stone lifeguard station that has cables and other metal that goes into the sand.
The sniper is essential for getting close to the structure metal.
I have a couple beaches that I hunt that have fire pits. For some reason people burn scrap lumber in the fire pits which have nails. Those nails get spread around in the sand making hunting really tough. The sniper can go between the iron bits.
But on clean dry sand the bigger is the better. You can really move and swing fast with the ACE 250.
On clean dry sand I run the sensitivity to maximum.
When I move to wet sand or over the grass I drop the sensitivity, sometimes as far as the absolute minimum.
I absolutely LOVE the ACE 250 and have had fantastic luck with it. You are obviously in a good hunting area - given Steve's fantastic finds posted over time.
Good luck and Happy Hunting
