You should do great in the dry sand - probably can run wide open and all metal.
When you get to the damp/wet sand it will take some getting used to. Probably have to swing slower and like BDA said, feather the limits of the swing (or just know it's going to beep!). You will have to play with sensitivity, but the slow swing is most important. The automatic ground balance is a little slow for swinging in salt water soaked sand.
Silver rings look like quarters usually, gold rings look like pop tabs. Zinc pennies look like pennies and solid copper pennies look like dimes sometimes. Zinc pennies will probably be junk in the wet sand.
