Default Anybody used a Headhunter Pirate?

I purchased one, but probably won't use it until this summer. It may be a fine machine, but I don't particularly like reading "made in China" under the arm cup. It Air-tests pretty good....Anybody else have one?

I dont like seeing made in China either but in reality most of the stuff made in the USA is acutaly just asembled here but most of the parts are made in China and Japan.. Im a Ford Truck Guy and always have been but if you check out most of the parts and compnents of most American made autos you will find most of it is made elswhere and just assembled here..
It does bite but thats just how it is..

I've asked that same question a couple of times with no answer, Digging Fool. I was wanting to buy one, but not if it's not worth it. Please, please report on your findings and what kind of water you'll be hunting... There aren't any reviews to be found.

O.K, Pris....I'll give it a whirl. I'm hoping it's not going to be a water-proof Jetco Mustang.......remember them? Anyway, I may just take it out to the relic farm and see how it does on land. Too early for me to go to my water sites. I'll keep ya posted.....

I've seen reports from pirates who's judgement I trust, the consensus is that the Headhunter is a Good to Very Good machine. With Eric Foster as the father of the unit there's little doubt that the Headhunter has punch and can cut through nineralization. Lightweight and powerful it is a good idea to mount the hardware in the headphones when water hunting.
I've only hunted against one once at Jobson's Cove. I let the guy with the headhunter work the shallows while I stayed out neck deep to avoid distortion and give him a clear shot at whatever loot was in the shallows. After an hour he was ready to leave so I asked him how he did and he showed me his finds, just some clad and lighter stuff except for a couple of large lead bullets. I worked the same area and came away with much more than he had so I'd rank the Excal higher as a surf machine, no question. This is what he left behind for my Excal.

Cheers,

BDA

For more info you should ask Eric Foster to help with any concerns/questions you have.

Good info for sure, Eric. Makes me wonder if he heard those but just didn't dig...you ARE a pirate, by the way.

Default My buddy has the new "PIRATE" loves it!!

For the price it can't be beat!! it's not the deepest but it will find you enough loot to up grade in a short time!! It has full disc, its a VLF detector...great in trashy areas!! So far no issues in wet salt sand Its a lot of detector for the money!! I may get one as a back up..or for hunting parks in the rain.
