Default Went to the Beach for the first time and??

Got pissed off cuz the Viper I decided to keep kept going off non stop cuz of black sand. Just curious if I was at a bad spot on the beach or not? Also I got permission to search on the beach on the Marine Base. Took the Viper to the park and found 2 nickles and a dime plus a few nails. Still have not read the manuel. The Viper seemes to work well except for when I was on the beach. I also called a park ranger for a local State park and recived a suprsing call back today. I guess I am the first one to even ask for permission and they said they have never seen someone search the park. The gave me permission as long as I cover my wholes. The park has to be at least 100yrs old.

Wes

Instability in black sand isn't uncommon for many detectors. Like was said already, read the manual and definitely try turning the sensitivity down til it's stable, of course you'll lose some depth. Good Luck!

The Viper is just not a good beach machine. The only affordable machine I've used with any success at a salt water beach is the ACE250 and even then it has to be turned down in sensitivity. The Ace will still out hunt the Viper. Best if you use the Viper for dirtfishin not saltwater hunting.

Cheers,

BDA

K-
You gotta read that manual, twice!
The beach can drive you nuts. I'm mostly a beach hunter and sometimes, my BH doesn't shut up and sometimes it's very quiet.
Adjust the sens. and be careful on the wet sand, that's where I run into the most problems.

Happy Hunting!
