Default Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Go Back In The Water

It was a busy day in Bermuda today, as I had to run the Princess into Coral Beach Spa for her pampering session. That gave me a couple of hours to kill until she'd been sufficiently pampered so I headed down to Elbow Beach to try my luck.

The Surf God wasn't smiling on me this morning though as all I got was pull tabs in the wet sand and a pocket spill in the dry on my way back to the Jeep. I was dressed in street clothes so no going into the surf this morning. I got a call from my Darling, telling me that she's met her friend Vivian at the spa so they were going to lunch together and would I like to come along. I Love my Princess but lunch with 2 princesses and one pirate didn't sound like a great idea to me so I begged off and headed for home. I grabbed a quick bite to eat and then into the wetsuit and down to the beach for me.
The wind was kicking up some and the kite surfers were out in force like I've never seen them before, 8 wind powered speed demons whizzing back and forth along my beach.

I couldn't hunt the Lane because there was a wedding going on at the beach and I felt sorry enough for the poor guy as it was so I didn't cramp his last moments of freedom. I headed out into the mine but I had to keep my wits about me and have eyes in the back of my head as 8 kite surfers kept zipping back and forth through the mine. It was what I imagine detecting in the middle of a busy street would be like.

One of these crazy kids lifted off about 20 feet from me and sailed right over my head, landing with a huge splash, only to be pulled back up by his kite and then rocket away. Another one of these daredevils almost clipped me with his kite as it came swinging down at the end of his run and he turned around for another pass. After that, I just held up my big aluminium scoop and waved at them with it as a friendly reminder that we all have a right to enjoy the beach. Things quieted down after an hour of this when one of the kite surfers put his kite into a tree when he messed up his turn, I didn't stop to help.

I managed a little over $3.00 in clad and a .925 Star of David Ring which cleaned up pretty nicely. No Gold but better than a day at work.

Cheers,

BDA

Chick, I'm surprised that you would suggest such a thing. What kind of pirate do you think I am?
