Default Sunday's Hunt, Rough Water

Met up with my Hunting partner "E" at 4AM this morning at our usual Beach that we hunt a lot...I took the Whites PI and was scooping everything metal...Got to love that PI...This thing is super sensitive for sure..I was digging Bobbie pins and all kinds of metal..I only found 1 single penny and 2 watches during this part of the hunt....We then waited till sunrise as we were both going to go way into the water...There were some real big waves and I had to think about this a while...I then Changed my shoes and grabbed the Big Bertha scoop and headed in.."E" was going to wait for a calmer day to snorkel hunt which I don't blame her..she most likely would have been yanked way down the beach....The water was rough and had a bunch of under currents..This was the first time that I had gotten that far into the water and I was determined to get in there...The waves were so rough that they were pulling me around and knocking my coil back and forth adjustment wise..I did manage to find 1 dime,1 nickel, and a pull tab before I gave it up after about 1 1/2 hours....I Still have a lot to learn about this water hunting..surely wish I had a BDA or a Goldfever to make sure that I learn the right ways of water hunting down here in Florida....It was still a good hunt and I learned some things and will have to adjust some of my procedures on my technical aspect of Water Hunting..I will get it, but it will take some practice.......Take for today was....1 nickel, 1 dime, 1 penny, 1 kids Casio watch, 1 ladies watch, 1 shot glass, 25 beer bottle tops, 13 pull tabs, 1 radio antenna, and the ever elusive beach tent peg..Also on this hunt "E" was a coin magnet again..She will post about her finds later on...Buster...

Talking Ain't Surf Pirating Kewl!

Detecting in rough surf adds a whole new dimension to the hobby. It's a lot of exercise, an addrenilin rush when the rip tides are running and you've got to be on your toes the whole time or Mother Ocean will reach out and slap you upside the head. The rewards can be awesome though, no guts - no glory!
I just got back from surf church myself and have 3 rings and a bracelet to show for my 3 hours in the water. I had a blast as the conditions weren't optimum for hunting but they were for having fun and a good work out. 2 foot surge and 3 foot breakers, 1 rip tide - what a hoot.
I'll send you some tips on water hunting via PM, Mate. It's a lot to learn and I'm still learning myself, the safety stuff is pretty straight forward but the reading the beach part takes years to figure out.

Cheers Buddy,

BDA
PS VERY Sweet Looking Geneva Watch and both the watches are still running. Very Kewl!!

hey at least you actually have a place to surf hunt ,though! all we have here are a couple lake beaches and they're tiny, but i s'pose there are things and rings lost here as well. i may give it a try once for kicks and gigles-see what i come up with. nice finds, by the way. sounds like BDA is helpin' you out..i see silver and gold for you soon!
