Default Day trip to Old Orchard Beach (ME)...

Hi Folks,

I got called back East for a family emergency, but fortunately things turned out well, so I was able to make lemonade out of lemons and got the chance to take my girls to Old Orchard Beach metal detecting.
We got a real late start, as the other focus of the day was spoiling the girls at the Cumberland County Fair.
By the time we got to OOB, it was late afternoon, and the Sun had long since been swallowed up by the clouds.
All we needed was a 20 degree drop in temperature, a 20 MPH breeze, and blinding horizontal rain and I would have felt just like I was back on a Pacific North West beach!
We stayed close to the amusement park in the dead center of the beach.
This year's tax return went to the girls in the form of an MXT.
They hadn't had much luck with it, so this was its opportunity to prove itself.
And prove itself it did! We had the standard 950 coil instead of the Bigfoot (that's on my DFX at home), and we started to find coins around the volley ball areas.
Then we wandered down the beach next to the sand dunes and turned up more coins.
My oldest gladly took the MXT, and scored the biggest finds of the day: She found a quarter, and several other coins the same person probably dropped.
All in all, we probably found about 65 cents US, plus a Canadian penny (which my youngest promptly claimed as her own).
It was getting fairly cold, so we went back to the Subaru, stashed our tools and plunder, then went in search of the obligatory Fried Dough.
This trip is what memories are made of, wouldn't trade them for anything!

Happy Hunting! -Tom
