Steve, Gold Chains are always very hard to find unless it is very large. The detector does not see the chain as a whole it only sees the individual links. Not sure why but I have experienced this many times. Put discrimination on zero or in all metal and dig all targets even scratchy or questionable ones. Hope this helps. Joe
