Default Atlantic Beach

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone has ever detected on or around Atlantic Beach in NC? I just moved to New Bern and BRAND new to detecting. Was wondering if there were any areas that might be a good place for a newbie to hit.

Never hunted there, but it should be good in front of some of those condos amd motels where people gather. I am going to Carolina beach this weekend and hunt with a few guys there
Good luck & HH

You might want to try at Fort Macon at Atlantic Beach. They don't allow any detecting during the beach season but after the first of September it is open for the treasure hunters. I had a trip planned for Labor Day with a couple of detecting partners but we ended up cancelling the trip. Still haven't gotten down there to try it. Give it a shot and let us know how it goes.

Default Hey Diggins

Iam a Marine stationed at Cherry Point, NC (between New Bern, and Morehead City) Iam currently on leave up in PA. Anyway, I've hunted Atlantic Beach before.... they just rebuilt the beach last year, dredged a bunch of sand and added to the beach.... anyway, Ive found a ton of new coins, and a few pieces of jewerly (recently lost) but never found nothing old. When I get off leave (29 Sept) we will have to get together and do some hunting. Another good place to hunt is on Camp Lejeune (Onslow Beach) I've found some silver coins there before.

Thanks for the reply. That would be very cool to meet up for a hunt. Maybe by then I will have my detector kind of figured out. Have a great leave and safe trip back!!

I also know of a few places here in Havelock that we can hunt. (mainly old base housing area's) I've been finding alot of coins with a few silver ones. I will get back with you when I return at the end of the month.... Take Care...
