I have a mental disability that prevents me from finding silver coins, but I try not to let it bother me.

I work with the Physically & Mentally disabled, did a lot of heavy lifting, it's repetitious (sp) and ended up with a right Rotator Cuff Full Thickness tear. I had surgery Nov. 06, and have a disability in there now. The surgery fixed the tear, but the pain is there constantly. Sometimes I feel a popping in the deltoid muscle that really hurts and can't move my entire arm for a day or two. I went grocery shopping with my husband last night, and I tell you to push that cart was pure hell. I paid for it too.

Metal detecting has definately helped me. In the beginning after my surgery I was determined I would detect. It was late January, I was was bundled up, (looked like a penguin hobbling around), and at the beach. I feel detecting was 30% of my rehabilitation. I am still on lite duty at work and will never work at the capacity I was before the injury/surgery. The dr. said job retraining. So I don't really know how much longer I will be working for this company. I have worked at this job for 9 yrs. It is kinda scary not knowing when your job will end especially in these times of trials. I keep plugging along. The left shoulder is just as bad, but I don't think I will ever get the surgery for it. That was the worst surgery I have ever had!!

So anyway, I hope everyone just keeps on doing what they are doing, and hopefully the ailments are at least manageable. Good luck to everyone, and God Bless!! HH!!!

We all deal with what we must to do what we want to do. We're a pretty strong group, here!

I have something going on with my muscles and there are good days and bad days. Sometimes I pay for going out MDing but I plan for it. I've also learned to swing by turning my waist so my shoulder and arm aren't involved as much. I'm one of those folks who sits down to dig and sometimes it's hard to get back up but I haven't gotten stuck yet so I just keep on doing what I do.

And some days I'm just lazy and have to make myself go out.
