That was a good one Boobie:

I remember when we were kids at Christmas time, we didn't have much, but we would go down in the woods, and cut us a cedar tree. (and it sure did smell good inside the house) We didn't have many store bought ornaments, but we did have some colored lights, and we would make ornaments out of ribbons, and bows, and I would sit for hours with a sowing needle, and thread, and a big bowl of popcorn, making popcorn strings for the tree while my Mother would be making chocolate fudge w/walnuts in it on the stove, and there would be Christmas music playing on the radio.
Like I said, we didn't have much in the way of riches, but we felt like we were rich in what we had. Happiness with being together, and celebrating the real reason for the season, "Jesus's Birthday."

"MERRY CHRISTMAS to EVERYONE"

I agree totally Norris. We Never had much either but we made it just fine. If we never received any presents we always managed to have us a candy peppermint cane and MAN we thought that was really something.

We learned from childhood what Christmas was all about. I understand that everyone has their own opinion of Christmas but I never could understand what Xmas meant. WHY leave Christ out of Christmas when it is his birthday. Whomever X is, I wish him a happy birthday too.

I remember Christmas Eve sitting around the woodstove and doing the things you mentioned but MOST OF ALL WE WERE ALL TOGETHER and SHARING the season. The next morning SUNDAY OR NOT we would all go to church and have Christmas services then back home to relax and reflect on the day.

Default You May Be If

You and your neighbor share a clothesline.

Nobody sits in the living room except the people from your church or your job.

You have a barn or a shop mainly just to go to to get out of the house and do some thinking and tinkering.

At night around 10 or 11 either your mama or papa or both sits in a chair in front of the fire and starts nodding.

I know what you mean Pappy; I remember when the term Xmas got started, it made my Mother so mad when she heard that term. As far as 'X" goes, do you think maybe he or it (which ever it is) is the one that caused The Big Bang?

I know this is off the subject, and I don't mean to get on a soap box, but I remember President Ronald Reagan once said, "If America ever stops being One Nation Under God, then America will become One Nation Gone Under"

THANK ABOUT IT.
