What about hearing the "Peepers" in the spring and the first smell of a skunk coming alive after a long winter. Phew!!

Default greens and soup beans

love the creasey and mustard greens pap just picked the last of the mustard greens last week, cant beat them with a bowl full of soup beans and corn bread, there are a few whiperwills aroumd here but they are going fast, dont know what has killed them out.the state let a bunch of coyotes loose a few years back and they have hurt the grouse and rabbit bad.plus we tree more house cats than squrrells any more that may be a problem too.hh creekrat

When we moved to our home in Fairchance PA in around 1972 or so we lived right next to the old Pennsylvania rail road tracks. I can remember the last steam engine run...woah that was exciting I also remember pheasants strutting down the track. They must of had 2 or 3 foot tails on them..now their no more around here.
It was just Mom, sister & me and I wouldn't have changed my country livin for anything.

This is the best postings that I've seen anywhere..Thanks Pap for starting it.

Wife and I were camping along side of a river and I noticed that there were lots of crawfish crawling around the rocks.. A plan soon surfaced. She was wearing a big floppy straw hat so we waded out and I would poke around under the rocks with a stick.. When the crawfish would swim out she would scoop them up in her hat.
That night we boiled them up and threw the tails in a creamy noodle mix we had with us.
Wonderful day spent being kids again, playin in the creek and lobster thermador for dinner.

Bob, you sure you don't have a bit of cajun blood in you?
That brings back memories to me... and memories are continued down even to this day... crawfish boils = family reunion! Can't beat that!
