Default Here's what I do for a living...what do you do?

I know there must be a wide variety of occupations that we all are employed in. I build reproduction 5 string banjo necks for a living. Here's a picture of one of my latest. Gregory saw this one before it was finished...this one and about 17 others.

What kind of occupation are you engaged in?

Wyatt

Default Just an old broken down cop

Did 38 years as a Indiana State Trooper. 18 years of that was as a detective sgt. with one year undercover. Retired in 1999 and have been a privare investigator ever since. I also own a FTD flower shop and I have no clue how to make a flower arrangement or tie a bow. I am just in charge of delivery, waste baskets and the computer. Oh, I forgot I have some storage units behind the flower shop. My wife does that too. Look, I don't want to get to busy or I would not have time to detect. Yes, all this is really more that you want to know.

I am an administrative assistant at the state teachers union. (Fancy title no money) Basically I am a secretary. Been there 37 years and counting. Not sure if I will make 40 or not cuz the thrill of md is calling me. I also had a part time business called JoAnne's Touch of Glass. I did stained glass. Got so busy with it that it wasn't fun any more so I disolved the business. Looking forward to retirement. JoAnne

That's a mighty tough living, Dave. Send me a PM and an address....and let me know how to buy some of your music. I always have the CD player spinnin' in the shop.

Ask your banjo pickin' buddy if he ever heard of Wyatt Fawley.

My job's not as exciting. I am a low voltage engineer. Fire alarms, nurse call and intercoms in schools and hospitals. I design the systems and others install them.

As Bugs Bunny says "AHH, It's a livin'"

The banjo building gig loses its luster after 100 or so necks....and that was about 1400 necks ago. I've been doing this for 15 years professionally, and some of my customers think of me as a low voltage system.....slow. I hand cut every inlay though, so it does take me longer than the average bear. Plus I'm always backlogged with orders, so while everybody would like to be first in line...ony one person can be.

Hi everybody, I'm new to md'ing and this site. I run heavy equipment for a living here in southwestern oregon. Before that I fell timber and before that I put in about 15 years as a commercial fisherman. I guess I have always liked a little danger/excitement in my work. There seems to be a lot of nice people here so hello again.
