I think we can all agree the cost of living is going through the roof. I'd like to take this opportunity to find/learn some tips and hints, things you practice, things you’ve heard, or have read. A hunt for help, if you will. My wife is on her way to the mall as I write this and I am petrified. Not to worry, what’s one trip to the mall?

Gas prices here in Northern California, June 20, 2008, are about $4.49 per gallon, bottled, quarts for your engines is getting out of hand too. Eggs, milk, meat, produce, household items, are all increasing. I’ve read some companies are packaging in smaller containers in order to claim they are not increasing prices. Inflation and unemployment is running ramped.

Economic 'misery' more widespread

Some experts argue that true inflation and unemployment - the components of the economy's 'Misery Index' - are higher than the government's official figures.

According to a growing number of experts Americans are feeling a lot more economoc pain than the Feds official stats would lead you to believe. They argue that figures for unemployment and inflation are being understated by the government. Some fear the economy may be approaching those "misery" levels again.

Ok, I buy my gas in the mornings (ya get more for your money), drive a bit slower, check my air in the tires, check my water and oil often. I will observe certain fuel “blackouts” (days not to buy gas).
When it’s hot I open all windows and doors in at night and get them closed before the morning heat. Turn up the thermo-stat and turn on some fans, take a cooler, shorter shower, etc. etc...
I challenge all readers to leave a tip or trick, used to COMBAT THE CRUNCH. Any tips and tricks accepted and humor in encouraged.

The hunt for buried treasure

Posted 06-13-2008 at 05:56 PM by BukkDigger
Last summer Roy Evans, history buff, outdoorsman and “amateur treasure hunter,” set off in search of buried treasure.
Five hours a day, he scoured the fine, white sands of Georgia’s Tybee Island. Within a week, he’d struck gold: 23 separate pieces including two crosses, 12 rings, a handful of medallions and broaches and one chain necklace — a bounty worth several thousand dollars at least.
“It was amazing, what I found that week,” said Evans, of Greer. “It might have been a new record...

Ironic Short Story

Posted 06-10-2008 at 08:28 PM by BukkDigger
I decided to go hunt a couple parks near my home this morning cause last evening while on a bike ride I saw at one park there was at least 40 people playing volleyball and another 20 standing around watching. Another 20 or so in the tot-lot. I noticed duffle bags and ice chests around the courts (sand). At the other smaller park I saw about 50 people having a bbq/party, with a bunch of kids playing in the tot-lot. Well between them both I found 1-Quarter, 4-dimes, 1-nickle and 3-pennies…. Not good....
