Been a while since...

Posted 04-20-2007 at 09:05 AM by Free2Dtect
I posted anything here in the blog. In time i will add more to this section. Today looks like the day i will mow the lawn for the first time this year. I would of done this sooner to even out the grass, but the days i planned to do so it snowed adain and again. Somehow the grass continued to grow under the snow. Imagine over 3 days getting 20 inches of snow and then 2 days later it is all gone. Thats Montana in the spring for ya.

The Called Shot:

Posted 02-21-2007 at 10:24 PM by Free2Dtect
While in the army, the unit I was in had to go qualify firing our weapons and then go on a parachute jump at one of the drop zones at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Earlier in the day an order to carry certain items such as: pen, writing tablet, white hanky (lady in distress thing I guess) and $.20 for emergency phone call was issued. I went to the local PX store with a room mate of mine to purchase the writing tablet. They were two for whatever at the time. I paid for two of them. My room mate said you only need one of them. I replied I might need two. I paid and we left to go to the firing range.
At the firing range after firing our weapons, it was our turn in the pits raising and lowering the targets. A short while later it was out turn for a break, course this was behind the pit area. Our small platoon was in a circle smoking cigarettes, I looked up and noticed the targets were held in metal frames. I asked if anyone ever got hit down here by the bullets. I was told it could never happen. Just then a bullet zinged and the next thing I knew, I was bent over and my arm was hanging down near the ground. Just inches below my hand was the bullet that hit me. I picked it up and laughed and said “called shot!”
The rest of the platoon was freaked out. And the officer in charge of the pit area took my bullet and made some call on the radio. I never got my lucky bullet back, which really ticked me off at the time.
I had a hole in my uniform and a hole in my writing tablet, my second writing tablet was still serviceable.
Maybe another time i will tell about Oct 24, 2004. That was the day i died. I have so many true stories.

Shot Before I Was Ever Born!

Posted 02-20-2007 at 09:31 PM by Free2Dtect
Yep, it had happened to me. My mother was pregent and i was not born yet. My dad had his drinking buddies over alot. My ma got sick of it and went to throw a shot gun of one of his friends out the door. It was loaded and hit the wood pile after ma threw it out the door. The gun went off and a slug went in her side and came out her back next to the spine. My older sister was home and had to stuff towels in the holes in ma. She then ran to grandma's to get help, we being poor didn't have a phone. Ma lived and later i was born.
Later i will tell about my predicting getting shot when i was 20 but was prepared for it and did not get a scratch on me. Everyone around me freaked out because i had just asked if anyone got hit by a bullet where we were while folks were firing.
Lots of near death stuff happened to me so far in my life.

Ghost Towns of America

Posted 02-18-2007 at 12:32 PM by Free2Dtect
On a serious note for a change. The Ghost Towns of America, has more info than the other reigning top ranked Ghost Town sites. The ones who came to Treasure Quest to look over the links i placed at their sites are very inpressed and have stated i am posting sites for their home counties they did not know existed. This bodes well for Gregory and Treasure Quest.
