New to metal detecting

I bought a whites 5900/Di Pro Sl years ago, sold it to my father-in-law. I never did a lot with the 5900. I bought the 5900 back from my father-in-law. The first time out I got three pennies, a 1981,75 & 55d. The 5900 is a challenging detector to use, but I am getting the hang of it. I look forward to finding more "treasure" this year.
