Question Question about bottles?

Im not a very knowledgeable detector and im pretty cheap to But anyways my question is how do you find these bottles? Is it cuz of metal in the same area or does the glass somehow set the detector off to? thanks

Talking No detector Required!

Finding old bottles takes a little knowlege of the area you are seeking for them. Lots of hard work and persistance.
It helps to go durring the season when poison Ivy is dormant, but don't let the dormant season fool you poison ivy can be contracted through the roots as well as the limbs/leaves.
Looking around creeks, rivers any out of the way place where broken glass is found on the surface or sometimes something sticking out of the bank of the creek itself. Perhaps a bottle or other matter protruding from the surface..
It just takes patience and time to find the good sites. It helps if someone shares info. as well.
A detector would do no good once the sites have been located too much interferance from the surrounding metals......

I am an avid digger, and have used my DFX detector to locate dumps. As these dumps contain a ton of rusted iron and other metal junk they can be found with a metal detector.

I got into digging bottles because of my detector. I was out hunting old mine sites in the Calif desert with my DFX. While scanning a depression near an old mining camp, I started to get erratic signals over a large area. As there were no power poles, and it only reacted this way over that depression, I decided to dig down and see what it was.

A foot down I uncovered an old dump full of whisky bottles, medicine bottles, rusty cans and other household items. 1000's of bottles were removed and it was a lot of fun.

Good luck!

Can You Dig It?

Default Where's the pics?

Congrats on finding a blind dump site!
Have you any dating on the site?
How about site pics too?
Still waiting for cooler temps here in Tex.
Again congrats!
I guess a detector can find sites.
I was referring to using one durring your dig.
I could only suggest that people screen if possible. There are some items that get by otherwise, such as coins and tokens.

Keep diggin that site I can't wait to see the end result.
The site I have been digging I will never see the end, quite enormous.
