I purchased a large tract of land the used to have a hunting cabin and a still on it many years ago. When putting the new driveway/road in, we uncovered a rather large bottle dump and after dragging trees over and driving over this spot, I found this little jewel!
Can anyone identify it? (please) MadJack |

This is not a bottle. I believe it is some kind of blown medical glass. When filled with water (liquid), it has to flow through the little "S" shaped thing to get to the center chamber, then out the bottom. It could be some kind of IV drip device but I don't really know. [end of edit] I live in Maine, not far south of Augusta. I am not a hardcore bottle guy, my interest is gold prospecting but a few people keep telling me to dig this site! We used an excavator to stump out the new driveway/road and uncovered the dump. It is nearly 200 feet by 30 or 40 feet. I have found some really big insulators (central maine power), some clorox bottles from the 20's, one lysol bottle that still had the cork in it and a pile of other stuff. And I'm not really digging it, I'm just kind of kicking at stuff sticking out of the ground while I'm cutting and hauling firewood. Anyone interested in digging here is welcome! I would rather see some of this stuff saved than go to waste. MadJack Last edited by MadJack; 09-15-2006 at 05:58 AM. Reason: adding information |

That's a doggone light bulb guys.....the base is gone, but I'd bet a dollar to a donut that it's s decorative bulb...made to resemble a flame.....like the ones in my front porch lites.
OK ,maybe not....but it sure looks like one...minus any metal parts. Wyatt |

That was my first thought when I found it but there is no 'curl' at the pointy end. The openings are clean and smooth, no signs of anything eve being attached.
I'm still looking for answers, thanks for the suggestions though! Jack |

It may be some sort of old scientific glassware. The weatherglass that Pappy referred to looks like this one that hangs on my livingroom wall. I'm always monitoring the weather through radar and satellite imagery because it is important to my job and to my hunts but when all the modern technology fails (like in a hurricane) the old weatherglass keeps working just fine.
