what was it used for ?

found this little jar alongside a railroad. its shaped like a baby food jar and is about the same size ,but on the inside there is another piece of glass attached at an angle and wonderd what it is for and how long ago it was used,I know its not very old but do you have any idea what it is? thanks Sam

Ink Bottle
SAM, It's a "SCRIPT" INK BOTTLE. Made in the mid 50's. the little slant inside is used to hold ink close to the top after the ink supply gets low. You tilt the bottle and fill the little slanted side so you don't have to put your fountain pen so deep in the bottle to get ink....Valued at about $5.00 if it still had the paper label on it....PAPPY
