Trade Mark New York. I found this embossed medicine bottle today but can't find any more info then what I typed in above about this small jar. Any idea what rexoleum is/was and the years it was made? The one I found is about 4" tall. It has several air bubbles in the glass, however its also a screw top so I know its not that old. When was the screw top introduced and are there any screw top bottles that are valuable? Swiz

Still don't know what rexoleum is but I know its a BIM bottle. Blown In Mold. No maker marks on the bottom and the seam goes from the base to the bottom of the lip. It doesn't go through the bottom of the bottle. I'm guessing from the fact most screw tops are usually 1920 and newer that its not that old. I'm still looking for more info though.

SWIZ, REXOLEUM was a "QUIETING" Syrup used to calm babies down when they had the colic. From the way you describe your bottle, it is from the early 20's.
You may want to check out the following web site...It requires a small download..But would help you in your bottle identification...Rexoleum was also know as a type of "BITTERS". http://www.cr.nps.gov/mwac/bottle_glass/index.html PAPPY ![]()
