Cool find....being that it is labled "Jumbo" and it has a Elephant...this is a refrence to Jumbo the elephant which was the Largest animal in captivity in 1882 at the London Zoo. He was sold to P.T. Barnum and traveled with his circus until he was hit and killed by a train in 1885.
This is where we get the word..."Jumbo" from...now it means anything Large. I found this info on Franks...which is yummy by the way: "An expanding consumer market provided numerous opportunities for entrepreneurs to find a niche for their products. In 1896, Jacob Frank ended his career as a traveling salesman and founded the Frank Tea and Spice Co....One of their most famous inventions was 'Frank's RedHot,' a cayenne pepper sauce used as a secret ingredient for the first ever Buffalo Wing." The company also sold Jumbo Peanut butter apparantly. You would think this Company would have been based out of the south but it was located in Cinncinati Ohio. I edited this post due to some other info. The Franks Red Hot site says it was 1920 when Franks Lousiana Hot Sauce was born....The bottle you found was labled Jumbo Pepper Sauce....I would say your bottle falls somewhere between 1896 & 1920 Pretty Interesting...since i have a brand new bottle of the stuff in my fridge downstairs lol. Thanks for all the info. I'm guessing that its 1920's or newer because of the screw top. It doesn't have a paper label, its all embossed glass. I'm going to be selling it. I'm asking $40 for it. I've seen a few of the same bottle selling for $50 or more. Jason

I originally sold the bottle for $40. I told the guy I would clean it up and make it shine which I did. But as I was cleaning it I held it up to the light to check the shine and found a tiny flea bite. In the curve of the J it has a slight amount of damage. It looks like a bruise and I believe the chip is still intact. I also noticed (with my wifey's help) that there was another spot with a tiny chip in the bottom corner of the ribbing on the side of the bottle. I contacted the guy and told him about the damage and told him if he still wanted it that I'd knock off ten bucks. He said that he hadn't mailed out the payment yet and he still wants the bottle so he'll send me $30 instaed. I sent him another message a few minutes ago telling him that when he gets the bottle that if he's not happy with it I'll refund his money. The damage is so minor that I could have not told the guy but I couldn't live with that so I chose to take the honest approach. I feel good about being able to still sell a damaged bottle for $30 and that he know's about it up front. Jason
