I recently purchased a Bounty Hunter Tracker IV. I have not used it all that much but am hoping to. Here is my question. The meter on the BH seems to be useless. Every time it pegs out. Is this correct? Am I doing something wrong? Does this mean I do not have my detector set correctly? Any help will be appreciated.

Generally speaking , the meter is an intesity meter. The closer the target or larger the target , the more it pegs to the right. Try putting a quarter on top of the ground and lifting the coil a few inches above it. The meter should not peg and actually go up less and less as you raise the coil higher and higher.
