Default Keep my coins in ?????

I am looking for something to start putting some of my older coins in. The coins I have right now are nothing special really, just a 1943 steel weatie, 1943 silver quarter, big mint mark war nickel. What should I use because I want them in something. I was thinking of those little cardboard things where you put the coin in them and then staple the edges, also thought about the things that I think are called "air tights" but not sure how much they cost. Just want to be able to put my coins somewhere where I can see the back and the front and will keep them from getting more scratches and stuff. Thank you.

Default printers box

I found a printers box at a local flea market. Cut pieces of red felt and put it in each small section. I put my good coins and jewelry in the sections. I went to an ace hardware store and they cut a piece of plexi-glass to size. My husband drilled holes for hinges and a clasp it is a good conversation piece and it does look great. just one idea hope it helps

Sounds like a very nice display box. I ended up buying the little cardboard things you staple shut from a place called Shinders. Not sure if Shinders is nation wide or just a Minnesota biz, but I think there are nation wide.

That is what I did when I was detecting in past. I also got some vinyl sheets that would hold the sleeves and put them in a three ring binder.

Hi,
Just posted a few comments about storing coins and paper money in plastic holders, flips and sheets.

There are safe and unsafe plastics to us.

Read this and hope it helps.

Thankyou,

BigJohn, you mean that those older coins will deteriorate that quickly? Are we talkin' hours or what? That's weird!

Vacuum seal? Hmmmm wonderful idea. May look into it. I do not seem to be digging anything too exciting yet. Heck I have not even been able to get out in like 2 weeks but I hope that will change.

old say late 1700or early 1800 large cent that is smooth just about like a disc. if you can barely see a date or anything it can oxidize or something real fast when it gets to the air. a friend years ago dug a large cent you could baily read the date. the first thing he did was cover it in vasoline. to keep the air of it. i dug a large cent last year when it fist came up you could baily read the date then it was gone. i think a coin in a fertilized or limed field for 150 years gets eatin up. and when air get to it starts lossing what little is left. dont know? but it happened to me and other people i know.
