Default raining today....so I had to find my "treasure" on eBay

No swingin' in the rain for me....so I check eBay sometimes when it's nasty. I think this was an attractive buy for 10 bucks ppd.

It's a nice example of an undergraded Barber half dollar. Looks to be a strong VG to me. If you have any Barber Half Dollars in similar condition at similar prices, I'm interested. The good news is I still need almost all of the dates/mints since I just started collecting these.

Hi Wyatt,
If I get any in I'll holler.
I' can't make out any lettering in her headband so it's more than likely a Good...Needs to be 3 letters showing in Liberty to bring a VG grade.

Good luck with it,

Greg

Barber Half Dollars are a bit more difficult to grade. The large coins don't always necessarily wear evenly. Usually by the time you get to a strong jaw line, with fully seperated lips and full nose detail....you're at least into VG.

I put less stock in the letters on the headband. I think it's a very narrow way to look at this series, and question the person who came up with that one specific detail as the deciding criteria....because it depends upon how well the example was struck as to how long the letters last. Many Barber halves were not struck strongly enough to use the headband as a deciding factor (especially early ones). I guess I have my own way of looking at this series, but the other way is "tunnel vision" and is not very accurate.

Let me know if you get any of these.

Wyatt
