Doesn't hurt to check ebay
Somebody somewhere posted the suggestion to look on ebay , well ..i did and sure enough my coins were there.
Surprisingly they are being represented as being silver but sell for 2 - 3 dollars. I tried a magnet and it does attract but not as strongly as one might expect.
