Hi Blythe
What you have sounds more like a game token of some sort, regardless of condition pictures are a real help in Identifying coins,, if you get a chance post a pic of the coin. Thanks Rick

I found this coin on the internet. Mine just says cash, I think, instead of ten cash. I was trying to get a good closeup of it and my batteries died on my camera but I will keep trying. http://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=13276

Hi Blythe
Very interesting site, I enjoyed it , If your coin looks like those then you have found a cool coin, I do not collect world coins so it was educational for me ,, If you look in the gallery, there is another 10 cash coin there that has more wear, it appears that the 10 is one of the areas that wears quicker on the coin cash is fairly well visable but the 10 is very weak. Thanks again Rick

Yes Rick, considering that I found a rifle badge and the higgins boat clip in the same yard, although several different locations, it makes me wonder if some kid didn't get a hold of his dad's booty from his service travels. It was all down 4-6 inches, where I find the old wheat pennies, so I guess it had been there awhile. I just hope I find some more stuff he may have collected.

WELL, I FINALLY FOUND THE COIN IN THE STANDARD CATALOG OF WORLD COINS BY CHESTER KRAUSE ON PAGE 294. IT IS A COPPER 10 CASH FROM 1903-1905. VALUED AT APPROX.$.40 IF IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. NOW A LITTLE HISTORY:
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
