Default Weird Penny. Can someone help?

I recently came across this 1962 penny in a box containing rolls a pennies from 1940-60's. This one is a bit weird, though. It doesn't seem to be made of copper, and has a small band going around the edge with a small nick in it under the C in Cent on the reverse. Someone told me this is a novelty penny and is not worth anything. Is this true? Can anyone tell me what I have here? Greatly appreciated.

I have that identical penny. I have never been able to find any information on it either. Neat find though.

Hi

The cent was in fact a novelty penny, more than likely encased in a lucky penny charm .or something very similar.

It definitely looks like it haa been bezeled. Just a penny in a fitting for use as jewellery.
