Default Hey Free......

....here's one of the Colorado Ghost Towns, situated in one of the most windy areas of the Colorado mountains. The town dates from the 1850's and it sits in a "venturi like" draw at a very high elevation, and the wind just howls through there. I don't know how the early residents put up with it, unless they came out here from Chicago!

I found my first gold coin (1848, $10) close to the building in the photo, back in 1982! See pics below.

Default Hey Free.....

.....I tried to post a reply telling you "you're welcome" on the Colorado Ghost Towns page where you posted my Caribou ghost town photos, but I was denied access to reply to your post.

So, I am replying here.....you are velcome, and I will send you more Colorado, Kansas. Wyoming, New Mexico, and other's that I have.

To answer your question, I have found a total or 5 gold coins over the past years.....I consider my self very lucky there!

Default Independence Ghost Town, Colorado

At over 10,900 feet the Independence lode was discovered on July 4, 1879 and soon after a town of 300 sprang up. By 1882, there were 1500 residents and over 40 businesses. Known by other names also, Chipeta, Mammouth City, Mount Hope, Farwell and Sparkill, Independence only produced about $190,000 in ore and was a ghost town by 1890. Nearby Aspen attracted the people and became the county seat.

** This is an archaeological preserve. (Can not remove artifacts )

Default Tennessee Pass, Colorado

This is an old mining town, it looked abandoned because a lot of windows are missing from the houses. I shot it from the freeway.
