#1 prospecting in 29 degree weather at Faith Creek, AK (within about 30 miles of Artic Circle) in late Sept. The day before we were in a snow storm about 20 miles closer to Circle, AK (so named because they thought it was inside the Artic Circle, they were off by about 12 miles).
#2 A club detecting hunt on a Sunny day in mid September by Clear Creek, CO (near Central City). #3 Sunny day looking east across Arkansas Valley over Leadville, CO (a bit over 2 miles above sea level, the head waters of the Arkansas River are just North outside Leadville) in early August. Photos taken with a Sony Mavica, using floppy disks. I left out the snow shots on purpose... Joe |

You are right about photo #3, it often clouds up in the afternoon and sometimes turns into thunder storms that can last into late evening. I also selected this photo for the old mining equipment in the lower right corner (an old steam boiler and drive wheel).
The view is looking East towards the Contintntal Divide (high mountains in the distance) but you want to watch to the West for the Storm Clouds as thats where the 'weather' usually comes from in this area. Turquoise Lake is just North of this location (a little over 1,000 feet lower altitude) I was a bit over 12,000 ft. altitude for this shot. Joe |
