Cool Mr. Moon - eclipse 8-28-07

I went out about 3:10 a.m. and got a couple of photos of the eclipse during the early portion (started at 2:51 MDT) and just made another trip outside, but there is not enough lite for me to get a photo while it is in it's peak (4:20 a.m.). Note image on left is being covered at top (eclipse), the right image is a reflection.

Camera is a Sony Digital Mavica (it would be nice to have lenses to work with) recording to flopy's.

Default Great photos...

I don't know if I got the time wrong, or what...but was told the eclipse would happen here at 6:27 am...got up in plenty of time but the moon was nowhere to be seen (no, it wasn't hidden by the shadow)...I think by that time of morning the moon was really low on the horizon and behind the trees...

I had forgotten about the eclipse, went to bed last night and noticed the moon was full.....when I got up this morning(5:30am) I noticed that it was almost covered completly, and was confused at first , then I remembered talk about the eclipse....so I got to watch it throughout the morning. I tried to take pictures but just wasn't succesful with that task.

I was unable to get out to view the total lunar eclipse this morning. Although if I would have remembered, like I planned last night, I could have seen the beginning of the eclipse as I headed for work this early morning. Well, Feb. 21st 2008 will be the next lunar eclipse - hopefully I will get out to view it then.

Here is a "re-post" of the lunar eclipse I took a photograph of way back in Dec. 2000. It was taken with an Olympus OM-1 35mm SLR using a Celestron Nexstar 5 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (1250mm Focal Length f/10) as the lens.

Post Nice photos

Turnerscc, I really like your photo #2 as it shows the shadow quite clearly. Well composed too.
