Default Digital cameras

Hello Folks
I'm having a good time going through a lot of the posts on the forum. What I enjoy the most is looking at the photos of finds. There are a few photos that are a bit blurry and most are terrific.
I'm in the market for a digital camera but I'd like one that can take close up photos like I see here.
I'd appreciate any suggestions and maybe a couple of examples that you may have posted here on the forum. I know there are a lot of cameras out there so to narrow it down a bit.... I'm looking for something in the price range of about $100 to $150.
Thanks in advance!!
Jerry
???? I hope I haven't posted this in the wrong place....

If you stick with a name brand (Kodak, Sanyo, Sony, Canon, Fuji, Polaroid etc...)point & shoot in that price range, You should be ok. I have owned several & liked them all. For photographing finds make sure it has a macro setting. 6 or 7 megapixel is common for that price & is more than ample. On a side note I had a nikon point & shoot that was a real battery hog. Not so bad with other brands.

Default Thanks

I did look at the S200.... Interesting. I now know, a camera with a Macro setting is important.... I know nothing about cameras. I appreciate that advice and info Arkwater. I have plenty of time to look around and will probably wait till after Christmas and maybe get a better deal..... That is unless the "hints" I have been dropping around the house works and I find one under the tree!!
:candycane: Thanks folks!!

I bought a Panasonic DMC-TZ1 Lumix, don't remember what it cost, but I don't think it was to much. It takes great close ups and is real easy on the rechargeable battery.

Post suggestions

In general something around 7 megapixels with a macro setting is usually sufficient. I would recommend getting good batteries for it. The I3 for instance with a special charger recharges fully in 15 minutes - and it doesn't require that you fully discharge batteries before recharging (no memory problem). Nothing like being in the field with dead batteries!!!
For myself though I require a threaded fitting for the camera that allows accessory rings, specifically diopters. I really like to get in close and fill the frame with the image.
Attached is an image of a ring with a +10 diopter and the macro setting that allowed me to fill a 3072 pixel wide image with the ring. Then I cropped, resized, and compressed for posting.
I use a Sony, but there are many great quality cameras out there.
Happy hunting:santa1:

Default Excellent!

Hello John and thanks for that post. Very nice photo. I would also guess that an appropriate background is important too. I'm really impressed by that photo as well as some of the others here.
I have a "ton" of information from the TQ members and I'm sifting through it.
It appears this is going to be a long winter here in the northeast, so I have plenty of "research" time!!
Take care and thanks again!

Like bbqcook, I have a Panasonic DMC-TZ1 Lumix also, I think I paid about $300 for it and it has a 10x optical zoom.

I think for posting close-ups most camera's with a macro setting will work well, but using a tripod and a light box seems to make a world of difference, I just finished making one tonight. Will try it out and post pictures later!
