The first item will be landcapes,

1, I dentify likely beauty spots.

2, predict how the light is likely to illuminate those spots, at different times of day.

3, make a judgement on what kind of light is most suited to this landscape, or at least the mood that you want to portray from your photograph.

4, Think about the colors in the landscape, and how they will evolve, at different times of day. How the will generate the best image for any given view.

5,Decide what angle, or angles this landscape will tell a story. Sometimes looking at the same landscape with different views will offer a range of lighting. that will make the photograph more interesting.

6,learn, the general way of life in your photo. How weather and skylines will affect your view. Sometime just a wind change will affect what you see.

Good luck.

Default Landscape.

Here is my first. I call it tree in winter.

With the lighting. As the sun moves from East to West the shadows are going to clock around the tree but the lighting on the trunk of the tree would darken becoming a silhouette by the time the sun is behind the tree. The most dramatic change would be the sky. As the sun becomes more predominant in the picture, the color of the sky is going to become less and less intense as the sun becomes more dominant.

When photographing sunsets which also include landscapes ,, timing is everything ,,wait to long and the landscape becomes sillouette ,,to soon and the sunset has not developed its full color .

as the sun continues to set the color of the sunset moves farther away when taken from a mountian spot like the one in the photo ,, and the color of the foliage fades to black .

I think I timed this photo just about perfect to capture both at their peak . Dividing the picture into approximate thirds .

Entry 2

I sometimes get the urge to take shots that extend to the horizon ,, especially when There is a sharp contrast between the two ,,

This photo of white mountian from the desert floor is just such a photo a very sharp contrast from one climate to the other .

this type of pictures requires a full light condition to expose all of the detail ,,taken in mid afternoon the sun angled heavily to the west was a perfect time ,,illuminating the landscape from camera to mountian top .

Perspective and landscape

sometimes a picture has more than one attraction ,,in this photo my desire was to not only capture the color of the sunset ,,but also the distance to the back of the photo as well as the landscape foliage at the beginning of the shot .

Fern Ridge Wildlife Refuge. Slightly cropped, sharpened. Camera HP850. Taken some time back. You didn't specifiy when it had to be taken.

I added one of Salt Creek Falls and a couple from Alaska trip two years ago.
