Default Adirondack Mountaineering Pictures

The first picture is of the summit of Mount Colden during a blizzard. A winter storm dropped 18 inches of fresh powder overnight (2/9 - 2/10) and it was still snowing. Breaking trail on snowshoes was time consuming and we were forced to turn back less then a mile from the summit because we only had 3 hours of daylight left to get back to the car (we made it out before dark). The last few are from Algonquin Peak (2/24). Very cold weather prevents clouds from forming around the summit. This was the best hiking weather I have ever seen, and it was my day off! A perfect day. I'm still saving up for my first detector, so this keeps me busy. The snow wont be gone until late April or early May, and then it's mud season. Plenty of research to do on old mining and lumber camps and caches too. Anyway, enjoy the pics and stay warm.

Cheers,

Chef
