This house is located in a ghost town, or more of a ghost street, in Trenton NJ. The 6 houses on the street were once occupied by doctors working in the New Jersey State Asylum, as it was then known. There is also a one room school house. The street backs up to the historic D&R Canal.

This hydroelectric plant was built by the city of White River on the little white river in South Dakota. It has been owned by several private individuals since the city sold it.

As far as I know it is the only privately owned hydroelectric plant still in operation today.

The city of White River was once located on the banks of the "little white" river but due to flooding it was moved to the hill top about 1/2 mile to the east population 595 This is my home town. In the early days before swimming pools this was a popular swimming place and good fishing spot, all around great place to spend a summer afternoon.
The Little White River starts out from a spring on the Rosebud Indian reservation then empties in to the Big White River then finally in to the Missouri river.

One of the original owners of it kept it open to the public to enjoy. But due to vandalism, liability, insurance claims it is now off limits.

Fortunately I am friends with the care taker and still have access to the power dam.
This power dam has two generators a big one and a smaller one they have gone through may trials and tribulations with ice jams, fires and lightning strikes. When lighting strikes one of the generators its a big job to disassemble it and send it off to be rewound. Bearings on the big shafts and turbines have to be sent off to be custom made.

I posted this earlier from my last trip to Hawaii...it is the original flight control tower that is still standing from the attack on Pearl Harbor, complete with broken windows and bullet holes...It is without a doubt, one of my personal favorite photos.
