Default Mississippi River Flood '08

Here are a couple of pictures I took today of the Mississippi river at Natchez, Ms...Don't know if you guys and gals know, but the river is the highest level it has been since the flood of 1973. I wasn't born yet, but the river flooded here. It is expected to go even higher still. Flood stage here is 48 ft, today the river topped 55.25 ft.

Those are some great shots of the Mississippi River. I hope you are not in its path! I lived in New Orleans 20 years ago. We had a flood then. Gotta watch it close, Beale.

Wow thats amazing and sad at the same time.

I went thru a flood in our town of Plainfield new jersey as a kid. The flood stopped at the beginning of our road as we were on a slope. We were very lucky as many lost everything.

Hang in there and I hope things get better soon..

looks like that a few miles south of Dubuque, Ia too. not quite as much water but she's waaay up there. on the Illinois side she's almost up to the tracks which are around 400 yards from the landing. one good thing for the fishin' folks is that if the stage goes down to say 20 feet and stabilizes for like 2 or 3 days the fishing gets so fun in those new backwaters. for the fish it's a smorgasborg of treats so they're all up in there hittin the chuckwagon. throw a nice gob of something as disgusting as possible into an active spot and hang on cuz your pole could disappear quick. fun stuff.
