Hello rip and thank you for your entry. That is a very hard photo to take. It becomes very difficult to get the right lighting and focus into the tank through the glass. The subject of the image is really quite good, but the "rule of thirds" takes one's eye immediately to the tail, instead of to the fish's eye. I took the liberty to play around with your image a little and digitally process it some, and then compress it with IRFANVIEW. I hope you don't mind.
The graininess is inherent in the water, and there wasn't much I could do about that, but I was able to increase the sharpness on the fish. I also re-sized the image from 640x480 to 800x600, so as to crop it with the "rule of thirds" in mind. Perhaps you'll notice that now, that the eye tends to go immediately to the fish's head and eye area when first viewed. I then saved it, and compressed it at 80% with IRFANVIEW, leaving a picture size of 122kb (for easy upload), during the saving process.
My purpose here is only to show you what a little processing can do to heighten a photograph's interest to the viewer.
I really appreciate your participation and thank you for your photo! Keep them coming my friend!!!
