Most of us don't think about how the early pioneers located their well on the dry praries. The simple fact is they dowsed for the location then built their home near the well. It was such a common practice to dowse the location that they didn't bother to record how they did it in their diaries, they just said located well or dug well today or something similar. Kind of like when they went to town, did they walk, ride a horse, or take the wagon...it was such a common everyday thing why bother describing it in detail.
Great thread, SWC Joe |

Hello CJoei:
Welcome,we are glad to have you aboard the dowsing forum, yes you are right about the old time settlers on the western prairies, they just took it for granted and never thought about it,My sister in law who lives in Saskatchewan province in Canada told me that the people up there would never think about having a well drilled without first having a water dowser find the spot to drill or dig the well, that says a lot about dowsing---Have a good night---BERT |

So true Bert, just like asking for water when dowsing, you want to be specific. Don't just ask for water or you could end up with alkali or soda water thats useless to you. Ask for good potable water at a depth of no more than xxx foot depth with a minimal recovery rate of 5 gallons per minute in the worst possible drought. THEN you will get something useful to you.

I have seen some on E-bay they run $25.-35. I made mine out of steel, I guess it depends on the preference of metal you want. Hey, Bert-Bert why is there three different metal options. and if I use tubes do I have to put ball at the end of the rods? PreacherJim, if you would like me to make you some I would be happy to do so I only ask that you pay for shipping. but I only have access to steel not copper or bronze. PM me if you like. |

Hello Fifty two pennies:
Good morning,no you don't have to put any balls on the end of the rods when using sleeves on the handles, might be a safety measure to keep from sticking the end of rod into someones eye Someone added to your message and said they would make you a pair free o fcharge only pay postage, they didn't give their name. you can use any metal for the rods, lots of dowsers prefer brass. Have a good day-----BERT |
