Default I've seen L-rods work and have used them myself

I've seen L-rods work and have used them myself. My father was Water and Sewer Superintendent at East Tawakoni for 15 yrs and Director of Public Works just as long and I remember him locating telephone lines, water lines and sewer lines with L-shaped Rods.

Later on in life, I used them myself to mark underground electrical lines an water lines. Then I decided to use them to locate Bottle Dumps and they work. The only difference between the Bottle Dumps and all the others is the L-rods swung outward. All the others crossed over the buried lines.

I think it has a lot to do with magnetic fields and such. I do not actually know how they work, I just know they do work.

Hopefully Bert-Bert's wife comes recovers from surgery with flying colors and he gets back in the swing of things... Him and Pappy can explain how the things work better than I can..

Thanks,
James
