Default Dowsing

SWIZZLE, First let me say that I am certainly glad that you have shown such a strong interest in this subject.
To answer your last questions...Yes the rod composite does make a difference, Yes, I have recovered targets using L Rods without the help of a metal detector.

NOW, You need to understand that DOWSING is an ART and SCIENCE..Not just something that you go out and do. The old time Dowsers do not broadcast that they are dowsers and keep it very secret to themselves and a choosen few.
I feel as though any information that I am able to pass on ( as little as it may be) will keep the ART into the next generations. I would certainly hate to see the ART die. I have passed it on to my children however they very seldom use it. They rather use their metal detectors. This an ART that you have to cultivate..you MUST possess PATIENCE and CONCENTRATION prior to obtaining SKILL in Dowsing.

I would LOVE to see DOWSER and DELL WINDERS JOIN in on this forum and and help in any way they can. I KNOW you are full of information and I would appreciate you jumping in at any time. This is NOT a closed forum.

We can cover the basics ANYTIME that you wish SWIZZLE but like I have stated before..It will take time...SOOOOOO You let me know when you want to get started....PAPPY

Well I want to get started by making my own set of L rods first. Where do I get the metal for this project and what size does it have to be? Once I get that down then we can go from there.

Default L Rods: Beginner

JASON, Here is a very simple set that you can make. I prefer brass but if you don't have it...Copper will do. This is a very good set to begin with. You may paint the tips white for night use if you like. I prefer mine to be approx. 7 1/2" or 8" and have a handle 4" or 5".

Sorry about the delay. I just finished making my L-rods. I'm think I like these better then my witchin' sticks. I like to call them witchin' sticks because I have a history of witchcraft in my family that goes back quite a ways. Now what are the basics and I'm pretty sure I can go from there. Jason

Default Rods

JASON, The MOST IMPORTANT thing to start with is to Put EVERYTHING that has nothing to do with your search out of your head and be comfortable..NOT WET, NOT COLD, NOT HOT...COMFORTABLE.One of the hardest things for the dowser, both beginner and the experienced, is to get an exact image of what the search item is.The more precise the dowser is in getting an exact image in his mind's eye the greater the chances of his/her success.
A lot of people use their dowsing rods in conjunction with the metal detector. The dowsing rod can be used to identify the LARGER masses of coins etc., then the detector is used to locate the individual cache. On the other hand there are people all over the country who do not own a metal detector and rely on the dowsing rods totally.
Your physical comfort is IMPORTANT. If you are too warm or too cold or wet you will not be able to FOCUS your attention on the task at hand. If you are not paying attention to your job then you will miss the signal from the rods. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR TASK.
As I have said before..RESEARCH..RESEARCH..RESEARCH BEFORE going to the field.
The rods should be held loosely (Comfortably) in the hands with the arms to the elbows held straight down by your sides with your forearms extended out level with the ground. The rods will either turn out or cross each other when near the suspected target. Once this happens you need to triangulate your site. When the rods cross or devide, mark that spot..Come at the location in a different direction and once again mark the spot the rods cross or seperate...Do this from four different angles and pinpoint your target.
If possible, you need to go to your library and check out some books on Dowsing and above all...RESEARCH...RESEARCH...RESEARCH...and PRACTICE..PRACTICE...PRACTICE in your yard before going to the field...PLANT some coins etc. around your yard and see how the rods will work...PAPPY

Default answering dowsing questions

Dowsing requires above all, patience. Firstly find a dowsing tool you are happy with, the type of dowsing rod is not as important as you would think.
It is only an antenna. It can be made out of wood, brass, copper,or anything else you can imagine.

Firstly what is dowsing? Why does dowsing work and when. Some of my answers are going to shock you, however they will save you much time and grief and give you a chance of entering the ranks of dowsers.

Dowsing is a mental connection between your mind and and a target.
Dowsing is purely mental radar.
Dowsing means to send out a mental querie and receive back a mental YES or a mental blank for NO.
Dowsing can only be used at certain times.
Dowsing is powered by solar flares from the sun.
THe geomagnetic flux from the sun bounces off the moon, flooding your body with the geomagnetic flux, which activates a mental muscle above each ear called the Celeberum which activates your dowsing rod (s) which will pull inward if a mental probe via dowsing is successful.

Dowsing is only successful if there is at least a half moon overhead to reflect geomagnetic rays down to earth.

Solar flares come in 11 year cycles ( average only) I had a good year in 1987, which means that I could have a good year in 2009,
which also means that we are probably at the bottom of the graph re solar flares at this time ( March 2004)
Every day or night that the half moon or better is in the sky I will attempt to dowse outdoors. ( not indoors) several times.

I plan moon phases via an almanac, and note down any useful dowsing geomagnetic flux. In January 2005 at mid morning I had several hours of fair
dowsing weather. In Feburary at 8 am I had several good hours of dowsing.

In good dowsing weather sun spots can last several weeks and be reliable for that period.

Several trips I have made this year had ended up in failure as the rod was dead by the time I arrived at my destination. I was prepared for this eventuality and took tons of digital photos of the suspect area.

Januarys trip ended up a success as I have pinpointed the required targets position within a few feet as photos are as good as being there in person.

Feburary trip will have to wait for the next sun flare to evaluate the latest batch of photos.

Not much more I can tell you at this stage, as after first picking up dowsing rods in 1982 and having used them constantly since then, I am still learning
myself. You can ask questions and I will answer them if possible.

Default Pocket Rods Photograph

Hey Dowser 501...You are a sucsessful dowser. You follow your set of rules which work for you. The same set of rules may not work for others. I am a physical dowser which means that I use the natural signal lines that objects emit due to the Nuclear Decay of all matter. I to believe that the rods are an Antenna. They can be matched ( as in a CB or Short Wave Antenna ) to a persons body by using different materials, diameters, lenghts and handles. I have my own set of rules that I follow We now have two ways that work so I would like to hear how it works for others. ......Art
