Default Gold dowsing

Pappy,

My late aunt had a dowsing set up that was supposed to find gold. I do not know if it was commercially made or custom built but I do remember being with her and her finding a couple of small nuggets (about the size of a black eyed pea) and one $20 piece when I was little (about 9). Thing is, it also used mercury, and a four or five foot tripod. Ever heard of such a setup?

Default Gold Dowser

JAMES, I have seen one but it has been many many years ago. I guess around the time that I may have been 6-7 years old. Thanks for the photo you sent to me. I'm going to check with some of my family members and see if they can clue me into this one. I'll get with you soon and let you know what I find out. Thanks again...PAPPY

By the way, that sketch is about actual size... The tripod when set up is exactly 4 feet and seven inches to the inside if the legs. There is a little cabinet like circular level on top with a little circle in the center that lets you know when it is level.. kinda like a surveyors transit.. then the level snaps off and you have a spot to put either a camera, spotting scope or what not on top. seen it used but haven't tried it myself till now.. keeps pointing east of here. Almost forgot, there is a compass that I can put on the ground underneath it and take readings from.. Sorta triangelate (ms) from here.. I am not sure of the range.. Dad said it was about 1/4 to 1/2 mile. My father helped me set it up and he said he hated it when Aunt Ruby (his siter in law) set this thing up. Something about if it gotta a reading then they would move it to another spot and set it up again. .. Alway took four readings then if they would dig at the intersection of the readings. He said sometimes he would dig about a foot and sometimes about five foot but there was always some form of gold there. Claimed that there was too much digging.
