Default Pendulum dowsing

A good friend of mine used to use a pendulum dowser over maps of an area and swore by it. He did find a lot of stuff, but I don't know if it was the method of dowsing or just blind luck. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Hi Bill, with 20 years intensive research and practical experience into dowsing, I find that map and picture dowsing definitely work.
When reception is reliable for dowsing, I can even dowse outside the perimeter of a map or pic. I feel that times when dowsing works and does not work is sadly neglected on dowsing forums , because a potential red hot dowser may never attempt to dowse past his first aborted attempt cause he was an hour too early, or 3 hours too late.

My great uncle Johnny was a preacher, one of those traveling Baptist kind from the early 1900's. He used to map dowse all the time and I thought he was crazy at first. He dowsed over a Texas state map, then over a county map then over topographical maps. He always was finding old money. Once he found an old revolver that was locked up. Can't remember the name of it but know it was made here in Texas during the civil war. He donated it to the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco. I want to say a Dance or a Taylor but I am not sure. It is on display there in Waco.

Yup, I do believe I will give it a whirl myself. Sounds like fun, and something you could do over the winter to locate spots to hunt in the spring. WOOHOO!

For me, map, photo & Information Dowsing is a gateway to knowledge and understanding. I never go on a Treasure project without a dowsed Treasure map to guide me to the location, understand the site layout, and what I should expect to be there. It's a great time and money saving tool. From my personal experience, I would highly reccommend everyone learn to exercise their own inherhent dowsing abilities. If nothing more it's a great learning experience. Good Luck!

Default Map Dowsing

JACK, Really glad to hear that you are getting interested in dowsing. Map dowsing requires above all Patience and a couple of other things. Before you go into map dowsing, I suggest that you first consider pruchasing a map (TOPO) of the area that you are interested in dowsing and also a reasonable priced Pendulum. I will be more than glad to help you through map dowsing but to get it correct it will take some time.
Map dowsing is a generic name give to the skill of making a location on a 7 1/2 minute topographic map, a drawn sketch, or a picture. The more accurate the map the more accurate the location of the hot spot.
The 7 1/2 minute topographic maps may be purchased from the U.S. Geological Survey and the following addresses:
East of the Mississippi...
Eastern Distribution Branch,
U.S. Geological Survey
1200 South Eads Street
Arlington, Virginia 22202 and

West of the Mississippi...
Western Distribution Branch
U.S. Geological Survey
Box 25286
Denver Federal Center
Denver, Colorado 80225

The maps are NOT expensive and I would ask for a infra-red of the area if they have them available. Reason being that the infra-red photograph records the differences in heat of varoius items.

Once you have obtained these articles...We will continue.....PAPPY
