Dowsing requires Geomagnetic flux from the sun reflecting off a half to full moon. Dowsing is not always strong enough to operate indoors.
On a sunny day, wear a wide brimmed hat or the suns uv rays will destroy all dowsing. Night time is ok.
Whether you use a pendulum or a rod, you are trying to obtain a mental connection with a gold or other target from a map. Any type of dowsing equipment is only an antenna.
Moving your dowsing antenna slowly over a map or photo and thinking down into the map for your target, if you feel an attraction to one particular spot, mentally move away a short distance in all directions and see if the mental attraction drops off. By practising this method you will learn to pinpoint a target enough for the next step of actually visiting the site or close up photos as the next step. Solar flares which powers dowsers comes in 11 year cycles. At the moment I am getting maybe one day a month ( or less) in the southern hemisphere suitable for dowsing. So all you triers need is patience. Its possible that the ranks of dowsers would be much greater if they kept in touch with Solar Flare info on the net for your particular area of the globe, ( ask google) Ows that. 100 pages of dowsing instructions and 20 years experience condensed into a page or so. You now have the basics to ask questions as they occur to you to further your knowledge of dowsing from any interested experienced dowser that wanders onto this thread and assists to keep dowsing topics going. I'm sorry but you lost me there?!? I've been checking out spaceweather.com and in the past few months there has been several different solar flares. The latest being an a class x-7. which is the largest we've seen since the 80's. Are we talking about the same sun? Am I missing something? It sounds like your talking more of magic and planetary alighnments then what I actually thought dowsing was. Please if I'm wrong then correct and enlighten me. I thought dowsing was more in the lines of a 6th sense amplified by a dowsing tool and maybe a little to do with the earths natural magnatism. I'm not trying to discredit you or saying your wrong . I'm not really in a position to do that as I know very little about dowsing. But I would like to see feedback from others as well. Am I missing something? Jason

Just found this forum. My thinking on the subject is that dowsing works different for each of use. I think the main thing is that it works and you can find anything that you want to locate. It will take a few day's to read the entire forums but I'm glad I'm here....Art

Thanks for the warm welcome. I used an LRL for four years before I realized that it was a part of dowsing. The past year I have been testing my Dowsing skills and the skills I had with an LRL. I found by getting a better understanding of these two tools I increased my gold recovery be 50 % last summer. I read every post on the subject and file it in my memory for I know some day when I am having a problem The answer will be there..........Art

Swizzle, I notice that our Australian space forecasts and dowsing receptions are completely different to the USA as we are much lower on our side of the planet.

I used to compare notes several years ago with dowsers in the USA, and apparrently there is no similar dowsing results between your part of the world and down under. Even the official forecasts are different for different parts of the world. I have often thought that there could be a huge difference in dowsing reception between the top and lower part of Australia as well. I could only prove that by hopping on a plane and comparing.

One very experienced USA dowser I used to correspond with used to have weeks and months of innaction similar to myself. When I have good dowsing conditions, I actually have a mental connection with a target if it is there.
It is an incredible experience and can not be likened to a dowser looking at the painted tips of dowsing rods. Also that class 7 eruption may have been one of my recent dowsing successes.
Today the 8th of march we have a class 2 possibly getting stronger.
At 7 pm tonight I will have had a rising moon for 3 hours.( Just nice if I am getting any feedback from it) as far south as Australia.

Whenever there is a full moon and the dowsing rod is working ok outdoors and while the moon is low in the east or the west ( easier at night) walk in front of a tree, letting it temporarily block off the moons rays.
Your dowsing rod will go limp immediately and pick up again immediately when your body is again immersed in reflecting Geomagnetic rays on the far side of the tree.

The foilage of a tree or bush will suck up greedily any Geomagnetic rays. Another proof is to dowse with a rod say in you right hand and hold a strong magnet over the top of your left ear and you will immediately feel a response, although not sufficient to dowse with. THe Spanish were aware of this anomaly and always buried their mining proceeds under heavy bushes and trees when possible. They were dowsing experts and realised that this was the only way to protect their treasures from expert dowsers such as myself.

This valuable piece of advice took me 21 years to nut out and use when dowsing. On a good dowsing day, leave your dowsing to late afternoon to be able to walk under trees where the late afternoon suns rays are evident.
I dont even bother with these methods much any more.
If I suspect an area, I will take 40-50 digital photos which is the same as being there and have patience until dowsing time comes around again, and dowse outside my kitchen on a comfortable chair and outdoor table.THe results are 100% the same as being there, but without the nuisance of bushes negating my dowsing.

This has all been happening in only the past 12 months.

The location on the planet might very well effect a dowsers ability. The earths basically one big magnet and the distance between the poles might be giving you different reading I suppose. Do me a favor, put spaceweather.com in your favorites for a while and see if that helps you. Right now the earth is going through a solar wind stream which is sparking sporatic northern lights in scandanavia, canada and alaska. If you could get a daily update on solar flares affecting earth and you believe this is what helps you then this should be very helpful to you. Let me know if it works. I've used witchin' sticks and have had a few break in my hands and peeled bark on a couple trying to force them back up. So I know the abitity is there its just developing my skill that I need to concentrate on. Jason
