What has been done, can be done, but I can't say that it would be easy by the use of Dowsing alone. I prefer the added assurance of a Frequency Discriminator for buried, or underwater objects, and the physical presence of an anomaly supported by a Metal Detector, GPR, Ground Resistance, or whatever Geophysical tool that is applicable to the geology and conditions in your area of search. Cool i have seen the use of a technology that

can spot anomles in the ground. it was used on 2 shows that i have seen. the first was the search for amelia erhardt? spelling?? it found a planes wing encrusted in coral. the seconed show was about "in the footsteps of lewis and clark" they used it to find a pile of metal by their camp on the west coast. do you know how i can access this technology? thanks for your reply!

Hey Tom....The cannon could be found by Dowsing but very slow progress if you have a big area to cover. You didn't say if you know anything about dowsing. If you want to give it a try I would make myself a set of rods from coat hangers. Then get a couple of film canisters ( those 1 hour photo places usualy have them) and drill some very small holes throught the sides close to the bottom. Slide them on the rods stopping when you get close to the handles. Put some bronze in the canisters and do a little practicing. Put a little bronze on the floor and walk toward it. After you find the cannon check the site as Dell suggested before you dig....Art

Thumbs up i know very little about it...

just seen it done on tv and a water co employee use it to find a pipe. it is a big search area. i detect the area but do not really look for the gun because it is a needle on a very steep haystack. i will try your idea when i can get the spare time. i can have my wife dowse while i detect. if i find that gun i will drag it off the hill one way or another if it takes a week. thanks

The rods react a little different for each person thats why I tell people to practice. For me using two rods objects have a signal line that runs north, south, east and west coming from them. I search 1/8 mile grids. When the rods start to cross I slow and inch along until they are closed. At this point my wife and my sons rods will both point to the target and mine will cross. I drop one rod to my side and the other rod will point to the target. Turn 90 degrees and the rods will open Follow the signal until the rods close again and thats my where the target is. This takes lots of practice so you should put a target in the yard. Walk 40 feet from it until the rods close and mark the spot. Run a string from that spot to the target. Walk a S pattern toward the target watching how the rods react. Hope this helps because if you follow the signal the wrong way it will dissapear at some point and you will think that dowsing doesn't work. ...Art

If you can't get the bronze at the metal shop try Ace Hardware as they have Bronze Bushings...Art

If you ever get the site down to a smaller area I have a SD2100 with a 25" coil that would find it. It is just not something you want to swing for miles. I also have a 2 box for my Garrett but it is not sensitive as the Minelab.

This would be terrific if it worked for you. I would love to read the report you write about how you found it. Please keep us posted ok.
