Default Just thought of this.

Just remembered, my grandfather was a dowser for wells. He's been dead a while, but I remember going with him to find water for farmers. Wow, maybe I got some of that in me somewhere. that would be cool.

It's quite possible, I know I can as it runs in my dads side of the family. His great grandfather dowsed a lot of wells for people and never missed one.

No reason that I see that dowsing can't be part of your hunting right now. Use the dowsing to get close to the target and then pinpoint it with your metal detector. My theory is that we do this to one degree or another when we detect anyway.

Cheers,

BDA
Nice to be part of that dowsing legacy, gives you a leg up.

Rob did you're grand pappy dowse the old fashion way... 35 years ago I was 20 at the time I had old timmer friend he tried to teach me he used a forked branch from a willow tree...willow trees are great water consumers.. well anyway he would walk with branch lightly held by his fingers and walk and would seem to point to ground and he would say if you needed water plenty right there and scruf his boot on ground.. is this the same thing! Thanks!

No, he used metal rods. I don't know or remember what they were made of. I've heard of it done with the willow branch but never seen it.
