Default More of my family and dowsing.

We had my sister and family, and mom and dad over tonight for little sis's birthday supper. Started asking my dad about grand dad's dowsing. My dad just looked at me and laughed and said "I've still got his dowsing rods and I use them every week." My dad is head of the County shop and road department. He said he uses them all the time to find water lines, and where to dig new wells. He said he has more success than the state guys with their electronic equipment. My mouth just dropped open. You just never know until you ask I guess.

That's pretty neat. You might want to hang out with Dad at work a couple days and watch him work.
Hope the birthday supper went well.

Very cool Rob, I guess to your dad it's just a job and didn't want to bring his work home. That's great that your dad will be a mentor to you in an unexpected way! Happy Birthday to sis!

GG, I think I'm a long way from dowsing yet, but I would like to start tinkerin with it.

And thank you, we had a great birthday supper for my sis. She's a cancer surviver 5 years now and can walk 5 miles faster than I could run. Heck, lets face it I ain't gonna be runnin unless a weenee dog gets after me, or someone is runnin in front of me with an open can of spam.

We ate 2 racks of BBQ ribs, and a pound of pulled BBQ, with beans and slaw of course. How's that sound bbqcook

Default Dowsing is Great!

What a great new weapon to have in your arsenal, Rob.
I was building a hotel back in the 90's and we had to find water before we could start the hotel, no water - no hotel. We figured this would be a cinch because the hotel was on waterfront so the owners called in a geotech and we proceeded to drill 9 dry holes. It looked like the project was going to be cancelled so I suggested a 'water witch' be called in at the special site meeting being held to decide if we cancelled the project or not. Now the stares of disbelief at my suggestion that I received from the architects and engineers was withering but I stuck to my guns and asked the owner what he felt about it. "Well, we've tried everything else and what do I have to show for it but a bunch of expenses and some dry holes that will have to be filled, why not?"was the owner's response. The professionals muttered under their breath but I brought in the water witch and we drilled and got another dry hole so I called the old guy back and he showed me the stake he had put in the ground 15' away from where the drilling rig had drilled the hole, "Why didn't you drill where I put the stake" he asked? Well there was a big spruce tree that blocked the rig and we would have had to cut it down and we figured what difference did 15' make anyways? "Cut the tree down and drill where I said" was all the old timer would say and walked off. So we cut the tree down and drilled the well and hit a gusher, twice as much water as we needed for the hotel and only 15 feet from a dry hole.
The professionals who were hoping to prove me wrong in spite of the fact that we desperately needed water in order to proceed had nothing more to say about the matter. I got down to the business of excavating the footings for the new hotel.

Dowsing works as far as I'm concerned,

BDA
