Default Rod length and material

How important is rod length and the type of material they are made of? I made a pair of rods out of some copper wire and detected every water line on my place but seem to have difficulty, or no luck at all, with coin of any other targets.
Watched my wife one time cut a piece of forked willow and then proceed to find every water line on her families ranch. I was amazed but try as I might was unable to use the willow with any success.. Bob

Default Rods

BOB, Willow and Copper both are conductive to water but will respond to other materials also. I have found the best rods to be made of brass however different rods work different for different people. If you are looking for rods that work on multiple targets, you need to use LOADABLE rods. With practice you can get the standard rods to work for you also BUT IT TAKES PRACTICE. Plant you a test garden just as you would for the detector, make you a set of rods with approx. 5"-6" handles and 10" to 12" probes and test them on you garden.....Keep on pluging and you will get the hang of it....Make sure your mind is set on what you are looking for and not wandering while you are dowsing....PAPPY

Default Loadable?

Thanks PAPPY, even the small amount I've played around with dowsing I've enjoyed it. One more question, what's loadable? Sounds like I need to order a set of your rods...
Thanks again.. Bob

Default Loadable Rods

BOB, Loadable rods are rods that have a chamber that you can place "BAIT" in and that is what the rods will respond to. Example...Baited with silver it will locate silver..Gold..gold and so on.....I use very simple rods but will be glad to make you a pair of brass ones if you like...PAPPY

Default Rod length and material

To make a couple of chambers I used 35 mm film canisters. I drilled small holes near the bottom and forced the rods through. I slide them up close to the handle for balance. I got the canisters at one of those 1 hour developing booths....Art
